Is IconX not working?
« on: November 08, 2024, 10:26:35 AM »
I imported a few games into Amibench for testing, and it seemes that those that are supposed to be started with a script using iconx does not work.
Apearently nothing happens when launching it from the icon (type project, set to launch from workbench, default tool IconX)
Executing the script from shell works.

IconX is not needed.

Switch the icon to start from shell in the icon information window.

IconX probably ought to work, but I'm not responsible for that component so can't say what the issue might be.

Thanks, that is a possible workaround. But you need to fiddle a bit more with it to make that work. The icon type must also be changed to type 'Tool' and the protection bit 'Script' must be ticked.
Users not aware of this might just think that "Oh, its just one more of those programs that doesnt work on Amibench" and give up.
It would be preferable that IconX worked as expected so I hope someone will take a look at it.

Does the protection b it not also need setting for IconX ?

Iconx from AmigaOS (3.9) does not need the protection bit set to work, I guess not on OS3.1 either.

If I set enable it on Amibench when using IconX it does show a small iconx output window for a brief moment, but the script is not executed.

Thats great that you will fix it.
Meanwhile I can confirm that CLICon does the job well, so thanks for that tip. I did rename it to Iconx to avoid changing any icon everytime.
