What Did I Buy?
« on: April 19, 2004, 02:01:58 AM »
Greetings!  I recently bought my A2000 from a University, which seems to be getting rid of quite a few of them these days.  This is a good thing, because I now have a Toaster 4000, which I have always wanted, and I managed to pick it up for cheap.

It came with a few boards in it whose purpose I'm not entirely clear on.  Amiga-Hardware.com identifies them as Time-Based Correctors (TBCs), and I gather they're for fixing the incomming video signal's timing so that it works with the Toaster.

For these devices, I assume I just need to plug a video signal into one end, then run it to the Toaster?

One of the TBCs was a DPS Personal TBC-II, whose manual appears to be on A-H.com.  I'm downloading the manual right now, so I feel confident that I'll be able to get it working, although there's an RJ-11 connector that I don't have the parts for.

The one that worries me is a rather cool looking card, called The Kitchen Sync.  It's kind of a neat name, actually.  Problem is, I've got no parts for it.  It's got a female DB-15 connector which, at first, I mistook for a VGA connector.  It's also got another connector which I believe is a male DB-15, Macintosh-video style.  Is there ANYTHING I can do with this card, other than hang it on the wall?

Also, while I'm posting, is there any way to burn a new firmware for the A2091 that came with it?  It seems to have v5.92, or therebouts, and doesn't play nice with CD ROM drives.
