The 'Heavy' issue is something I always wondered about the Amiga PSU.

First Ami was a 500+ which came with a very light PSU. Looked like my mates PSU from his A500 but it was VERY light in comparison.

I upgraded to an A1200 and this came with a heavier PSU which looked different - more like the CD32 PSU (completely sealed, no screws, with a 'ribbed' top) but in beige.

Was the weight anything to do with the amount of power these things could supply i.e. was a heavier PSU able to supply more power?
