Congrats to Trevor, now get to work and upgrade

Trevor,

Congrats on purchasing Amiga.org.  Despite what Bill  might have said, you're going to need to put some work into it to keep  it going.

Specifically, AO hasn't been upgraded software-wise in  over 5 years (since I sold it).  You're going to need to upgrade soon  (vB is at 5.0+) and it would *REALLY* do a great service to the  community if you actually upgraded the theme as well...

The  problem here -- and my urgency (and public shaming) -- is that old  open-source software like vB is dangerous.  You're leaving yourself open  to hackers, and just general kiddies who break stuff.  If I'm guessing,  don't have a backup either.

The theme -- which you can blame on  me -- is also extraordinarily dated and is starting to break under  modern browsers (see the bug reports once in a while)...

It's  time for a reboot Trevor.  I'd log in and fix a few of the bugs -- like  the missing "new posts" -- on the back side but have seemingly lost my  privileges.

Regards, and shame on you :)

Wayne (yes, that Wayne, the guy listed on the bottom).. :)

The problem is, I don't know Trevor, or whomever owns the site now, so sending these concerns via pm to avoid your personal discomfort makes ithe gesture meaningless..  Nothing would ever change.

For the Amiga community -- hence your commercial interest -- to thrive, it needs to be supported.  Supported by a site that it deserves and that is constantly evolving and changing.   If supporting the community first and foremost is not your immediate priority here, perhaps you should consider the reasons for your involvement in the first place?

Sorry.  I realize that I'm smearing the line with the heel of my boot here but for five years I begged Bill to actively do something to be met with silence, or worse, a "hey Wayne, could you do that for us" response.   Not sure why I care, but I do, and I still want better for the community...
