Well no more posts seem to have disappeared into cyberspace unlike yesterday when I was starting to think I was caught in a time loop (either that or me meds had wore off)... :)

Suppose it's a bit like moving house... now has anyone seen the cat lately... :)
That's probably a bit of my fault.  I never thought to suggest that he turn off the site on the former hosting while DNS propogated to avoid lost posts for those few hours.

Mea Culpa (not that I care)

So how much is the hosting now? 3 times more than from competing provider and with worse service?

I don't understand why you insist on staying with the current hosting provider.

http://www.softlayer.com/ - these prices are just plain rip off.
Who is Soft Layer?  They're not the current host of Amiga.org..

From what I'm given to understand -- and I don't speak for the owners or the site any more -- Amiga.org was just put on it's own account with hostgator rather than sharing my reseller account with my other (some very popular and heavy) sites.

Say what you will about hostgator.  Yes, there are cheaper places to host, but IMHO, over the last 3-4 years, they've proven themselves to be reliable and worth the cost of hosting, unlike other hosts that Amiga.org has had in the past.

Well indeed they're very expensive: http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

Ok.  If you say so.  Yes.  That would be rather expensive.  Only thing is, no one EVER said anything about Amiga.org being run from a dedicated server.  Well, not for several years now when we were using one for a short time during the whole Amiga/Genesi debacle years ago.

Again, I don't speak for anyone but myself, but I think at least one of you is assuming facts nowhere in evidence.  Not unusual for the Amiga crowd.  I'm just sayin'...
