AmiTCP/Genesis and MiamiDX on same Amiga
« on: July 31, 2017, 07:52:39 PM »
I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with a plipbox (stops working after a few web page loads).  I'm running OS3.9 and therefore I tried using Genesis with the plipbox.  Lafalla's instructions indicate that DHCP isn't supported so I needed to use static addresses.. no problem, I assigned it 192.168.1.236.  After running into issues with it not working after a few web pages (have to power down both Amiga and plipbox to get it to work again) I loaded MiamiDX.  I followed Lafalla's instruction which indicated DHCP was supported but when after bringing the plipbox interface online, I discovered that when I ran miamiifconfig eth0: I got 192.168.1.236 as an IP address (same as the static from Genesis settings). If, after a power down, I don't load purposely load Genesis GUI, does it do anything (i.e., is there some routine that loads the AmiTCP/Genesis configuration on startup and assigns eth0: its static address?)

It might be that I have a smart enough router to feed the plipbox a DHCP-requested IP address equal to the static one I had used (would assume it had it in its ARP table) but I want to know if there is any issue with having both Genesis and MiamiDX on the same computer?
