yeah include the classic PPC amiga so that my Blizzard card can storm into second place in the time sheet. (classic amigas only) just behind a 233Mhz Cyberstorm.

but i wonder can a 233Mhz Cyberstorm/Cybervision can out-do my Blizzard/Bvision in *3D  performance* 38Mhz PCI bus speed but if using OS4.0 expect 43Mhz PCI bus speed.

Bvision memoy clock is now *standard* at 100Mhz.
 

also i don`t need to use a screen mode lower than 800x600.

WORKBENCH *standard * screenmode 1024x768

ALL RTG GAMES *standard* 800x600 if the game support screen mode that high. depending on which game is used some games is fast enough with 1024x768 screen mode.



NOTE: my Blizzard and Bvision card holds a few world records not yet posted in any thread for top-end speed for classic amiga.


NOTE: where it says *standard* does not mean thats its top end speed or the screenmode can`t go any higher,it`s  just a standard i use all the time for testing with no issues.

Well, I guess that's one take on Piru's statement. Personally, I think he focused more on the idea of including Classic hardware in the benches.

And, personally, again I'd love to see some decent AOS4 vs MOS comparison benches.

i know what he's trying to do,perhaps he`s had to many drugs today.

There's nothing wrong with that. What I dislike is breaking perfectly working classic HW by pointless overclocking (or attempts of overclocking). Working classic HW is getting rarer all the time. In my view it should be preserved, rather than trying to pimp it up the maximum until it fries.

If you want the ultimate performance (for instance in 3D), there are way better solutions for that these days (emulation, AROS, or other new amigoid systems).

i agree,but the card can go faster without any overclocking whatsoever,and  iv just tested such a card 300Mhz PPC and a real 68060@75Mhz and it`s performace is not far off my fastest card.

you name the componet that you thing is overclocked and i may give you the part no whats it`s replace with and i can tell you now one or two componets in my set-up is  infact under-clocked and has yet to reach it`s full speed.


classic cards must be protected this is why i have not modify any cards yet,and i did recommend a new type of fan for *all* Blizzard cards regardless if it overclocked or not.

and remenber i can take a Blizzard PPC or Bvision completely apart to the bare board and put it back together and iv already done so.

im able to identify faults on the card because iv being working on Blizzard cards for such a long time,this is why i have the fastest card in the world and yes if it goes faulty i just repair it like my test card.

A question: How many A1200, Blizzard PPC and BVisionPPC have you destroyed while working on your projects?

none.

iv being buying already none working cards,testing each componet and then putting it back together. if you don`t belive me i can point you to my old thead where iv being asking for none working cards.

iv infact gain a few cards in this way,iv also found something which nobody knows excepet Phase 5 eniginners untill today in this thread.

now here something none of you know.

you can change the PCI bus speed from the 68k processor to the PPC processor.

I'm not really interested personally in 3D, but I did overclock one of my Cyberstorms.  Actually I didn't really overclock it, I just had the CPU replaced with a faster 604e.

I have enough of my own stock of classic hw that I should be ok to tinker with one of it.  If it was my only cyberstorm ppc board then I would have been more cautious.

BTW, I've got my 366MHz cyberstorm ppc to a be relatively stable by hand-picking simms.  I have it fully populated with 128MB ram now.  Your WhichAmiga program identifies the ppc as a 366Mhz 604e.

I take your word on it, even though I have some difficulty accepting it when I look at your posting history. Especially the PSU related projects seemed somewhat unstable.

my PSU has changed,there has been a massive improvment along with my A1200 motherboard with s-video 15pin VGA (shared socket) Bvision/Indivsion and may go auto-switching.

NOTE: my A1200 desktop when veiw from above you will not see any cables/wire,even the 1d1 fix by commodore has disappeared.

It's an IBM 604e 350MHz, but it's running at 366.  The only problem is the memory sometimes locks up, it's really having a hard time feeding that fast 604e.  I've run sysspeed and measured read speeds of 192MB/sec which is really pushing it.

I've tried many different SIMMS and have some that work ok, but still not 100% all the time.  I think it's very hard to find good quality 60ns 32MB simms for the cyberstorm.   50ns are extremely rare, too.  I've looked.

i discovered the the same problem two weeks ago @86Mhz bus and i working on the problem. i know what the problem is and it`s going to take some time to fix.

i did not wanted 86Mhz bus but the company that make my oscillators to my spec went in recivership two weeks ago so im stuck with 84Mhz or 86Mhz bus for the PPC,this is why the 68060 has gone up from 75 to 76Mhz now fixed with no data trashing on the CF card.


going back to your problem it may lie in the access time in the memory module but even if you find the correct simm you may still have problems which i have discoverd.

a good starting point is 50ns simms but iv pointed this out before. not all 50ns simms are the same.

the Blizzard card works better with a certain type of simm and the Cyberstorm is most likly to be the same.

there are very poor 50ns simms which shows-up as 47ns. very good 50ns simm show-up as 43ns but *most* simms will show-up as 45ns.

my simms are a little bit faster than 43ns which i will not release any info on untill my project is complete .

I've had a very difficult time finding any 32MB 50ns simms.  I think i have one stick that actually has the chips rated at -5.  Anyway, the PPC bus speed is 66.667 MHz, so it's not really overclocked, but the PPC chip is very fast so it's trying to get at that memory very quickly...and sometimes locks up.  The sticks I have hand-selected now are better than my other "bag of ram" that I have...but I still search for stable and reliable ram.

I have extra cooling on the RAM area and of course on CPU(s).

i know whats wrong iv already fix such a problem at 75,76 & 83Mhz im now working on fixing my problem at 86Mhz.

you should not have such a problem at a low bus speed,that Cyberstorm should have at lease a 75Mhz bus which make me think something is *not right*.

you have two problems,and a possible third,and before anybody says anything yes i have the answers.

it sounds to me you do have the *correct* ram as the system boots into workbench but whoever changed your CPU has more work to do.

you can not just change the CPU i think everything will work,you have to remember when the CPU is changed to a faster CPU you are going to have solve the other problems.

my Blizzard card is done in such a way i can do pretty much what i want without damaging the card and yes that means all the way to 100Mhz bus.

any modification done on the Blizzard or Cyberstorm cards must be done correctly if not there is a VERY HIGH RISK your card will not last very long before permenent damage is done this is where you must have some knowlege how to repair it.

only cards done by me will have all the know problems fixed and will be stable this is why it says POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL at the bottom of all my posting this is what it means.

The mod was done by stachu100, who has done several of them.  There are extra things he's done which he talks about here:

He has added 2 extra MOSFET transistors on the bottom of the card.  Not sure about voltage but perhaps he will say

What did you do to make it stable at such high bus speeds?

you have to ask yourself is it`s a successful modifcation. if the card locks-up, crashes is the card better off with the old processor. im not going comment on what others has done to your card,but i will comment on mine and what will happen in the future.

if and when i do a modifcation on the Cyberstorm which i hope should be early next year,it will work with no lock-ups or crashes and the card does not always need to be overclocked.

i can`t wait to see the result you should have the fastest classic amiga but you will not hold that crown for long,so enjoy it while you top the time sheet for classic amiga.

you should hold number one spot for classic,and drops my Blizzard card from 2nd to 3rd fastest classic card in the world,so it should look like this, the top three.

1. Cyberstorm 366Mhz (your card)
2. Cyberstorm 233Mhz
3. Blizzard PPC 334Mhz (my card) extreme bus speed needed to claim this spot

those Cyberstorm are destroying the classic PPC time,however my Blizzard card should take back second spot if im able to get the 500Mhz PPC 740 working,i will now be pushing very hard to get this processor working.

as you may of read in the other thread i have a BGA socket on one of my cards so i can change the CPU in under 1 min, exclusive with it`s own heatsink with a choice of alloy or with it`s patent pending heatsink which can run a PPC processor upto 240Mhz fanless.
