Overclocking BVision

Not really. The filesystem is I/O bound anyway, so there is little benefit from porting it to PPC.

I've used PFS3 as my main filesystem on MorphOS for 10 years now.

its the only filesystem i use OS4.0. i hope someone can do a update or look at what was planned for PFS4 ( if any ).

OFF TOPIC

MorphOS for classic how far can the Bvision be overclocked?

is it limited like in CyberGraph X for 68k to 100Mhz?

Same as 68k really. It's a HW not SW limit.

in 68k the software is limited in speed due-to the *original hardware specs* 100Mhz,but my Bvisions are a little different and are *not normal* and are classed as *special*.

this tiime it`s the other way round it`s the software that limiting the speed of my card,so no one may know the answer unless the developer has written this into the software in MorhpOS.

no one will be able to test it beyond 100Mhz due-to the hardware, but this has now changed.

i don`t want to install MorphOS knowing it does not work beyond 100Mhz.

This is interesting. Can you elaborate a bit?

NOTE: for some reason i can`t start my own thread it been this way for many months i don`t know why.

i don`t want to give to much away at this point but it is software thats stopping my card from going faster, all three cards are not normal standard Bvision.

He doesn't want you to find out in case we start modding our own Amigas, undermining his pride thusly.

send me in your hardware to experiment on and i have no problems in releasing information
to all users. beware your hardware will not be the same if you want it to be returned.

all experiment/testing cost money and time and i need to see some kind of return for my work.

*Overclocking Bvision*

im not sure if this information is true but im going to post anyway.

Bvision/Cvision overclocking is limited to 100Mhz with Cybergraph X.

i think this limit can be changed in the Permedia 2 driver. the question is *who* can EDIT the Permedia 2 driver and change it.  i do belive it`s a small EDIT in the value.

whoever who can change the limit, it would be a good idea to PM me so i can test the new MAX limit.

WARNING!

if a modifyed driver is used for Bvision/Cvision  users must not overclock their cards without proper cooling as this will overheat and destroy the card.

Yes, but I wouldn't remove the checking, but rather change the limits. Removing it completely makes it possible to totally hose the system by entering bogus values by accident.

Ah btw, this hack won't work with Permedia 2V, if that's what you're using.

Also, it goes without saying that the limit is there for a reason. Do NOT try to go above 100 unless if you know exactly what you're doing. For my phase5 BPPC >96 locked up quickly, even when actively cooled.

EDIT

my card works perfect @100Mhz i left it on with Heretic II running overnight no lock-ups with Blizzard clocked @334Mhz 83Mhz bus.
060@73Mhz

PM on it way.

this project has started again but im looking for two or three faulty Bvision cards to continue this project as i only have one remaining TEST BVISION CARD left.

in the next few hours i will post my findings what the Bvision can do over 100Mhz ( if any ).

Bvision sets a new world record over 100Mhz,but it just a little improvment it`s going to need to improve a lot more.

over the next two or three months i will be looking to see if i can get more speed out of the card.

Given your Vesuvius like nature, I think anyone should think long and hard before

A; giving you hardware and b; giving you their address.

if you have nothing positive to say why don`t you **** off and stay out my thread.
