Yes I use OS3.9 with both BB1 and BB2 I came from WB3.1 and it is well worth getting, I cant say about 3.5 as I never used it.
But OS3.9 is well worth getting you will see a big differance for sure.
And of course it will handle HD over the 4gig limit. I currently use a 40gig hd with OS3.9
