A1200s all shipped with a hardware bug on the PCMCIA slot - a reset signal from a PCMCIA network card tries to reset the whole operating system.

Most likely, anyway. If you google " Amiga CC_Reset fix" you should find a homebrew solution, or you can buy an off the shelf gadget that just plugs over the Gayle chip.

Good call on testing it with software first Kolla. I couldn't log in to comment further earlier (my email account was banjaxed yesterday). :(

Downloaded and installed. Added lines to S-s. Still freezes.

Darn.

Hmmm... maybe somebody already did the fix and it's gone bad?

Check around pin 5 of Gayle, should be a capacitor or resistor pulling it the right way - might have got detached. There's any number of places where the other end can connect to, but pin 5 is the Gayle pin that needs a tweak.

Just to show I'm not messing you on this...

They really were all built wrong. Or rather, they were built different, as there weren't any PCMCIA network cards at A1200 release date to test them with.

If you got spare A1200s that work with that network card, then obviously it's that particular A1200 that has the issue.
