Well, it would be interesting to determine what exactly would be a production run in units produced, then we could get an idea of pre-orders somewhat.  As I would expect that Altman would keep his cost down by not carrying an extended inventory which would have to be stored.

Why would you limit the size of a production run to anything less than the number of pre-orders?

That makes too much sense Mongo.  A pre-order is in fact that an order made prior to a completed production.  So, pre-order fulfillment should be wide open to meet those orders.

How is that possible? You have X pre-orders, so you decide to do two production runs of X/2 units? Great plan!

This all sounds like a bunch of Sour Grapes to me.  The company is off the ground, they seem to be excited about their future.  If you are going to buy a cheap computer what's wrong with having one that gives you fond memories and provides you with pleasure.  How much is that worth?  I have no interest in a C64, but would love to see some new Amiga hardware, running an os that is compatible with my Amiga software.  Isn't that what all these
versions of Amiga software are doing right now?  Sounds like some people on here need to grow up a bit.

It's not a cheap computer.
