AROS to drop Amiga from it's acronym

According to U.S. trademark law, you have to defend your trademark or you lose it.

Since Amiga Inc has done nothing to defend its trademark in the past, it has effectively abandoned it.

Oh, but it has. Remember when Gary Peak when on a rampage about sites (like AO) required to have a (free) license for using any AI's IP? That will qualify nicely for defending their trademark.

A one time thing isn't good enough. Defending one's trademark has to be done continuously.

Not to mention the fact that they have, as far as I know, never taken any action with regards to AROS, even though they have had complete knowledge of it's existence since the beginning.
