Help the poor boy, 1084 is dead and need color output =(
« on: December 02, 2016, 09:59:44 AM »
My 1084 monitor is dead for years. It turns on and I can hear the noise from its board and even the audio but no picture :(
My Amiga 2000 has only mono composite. All I have is the RGB to Scart+Audio cable + Scart to Composite+S-video adapter.
Can I make RGB to Composite/Component converter? =(

I had similar issue, it was the infamous "flyback transformer".

What's that? Is it possible to repair it?
I remember my dad was using it as TV when I was child, that's why it died soon x)
I know someone here that sell A520 for $40, don't know if it's worth or not.

Why don't connect it to your LCD-TV with your RGB to SCART cable?

My TV has no Scart port, only HDMI/Component/Composite.
I thought it works only with 1084, so can I connect it to any TV with scart port?

well its a common cause of failure. There is this excellent site:

 http://www.jammarcade.net/commodore-1084s-p1-repair-part-ii/

but dont try it, high voltage, leave it to professional, blabla.
Is there a high pitched noise?
The hardest part is finding replacement. Original is quite pricey. I found cheap Chinese copy, locally, think it was less than 10eur.

Yes, there is high pitched noise and the power LED doesn't turn on but it's powered on.
It's the Philips model of 1084 (non-S)

Just bought an Amiga 500 with A520 which works fine, colored output.
But when I connect its A520 to my Amiga 2000 rev6, it gives me grayscale output :( :(

Thanks, I'll try to find someone to repair it for me.

Just got an used 1084S-P and it was working fine for 5 minutes until the picture started to shrink and I smelled something bad
I had to turn it off quickly and didn't turn it on anymore :(

Have you tried making a VGA adaptor and hunting down one of the VGA monitors out there that do RGB? Many can be found at secondhand stores for virtually nothing, and new models that are RGB-capable are being discovered all the time.

Interesting, I didn't know that but it's also hard to find those.

I need to buy HR 7506 :(
Where can I buy?
