Remove Ramsey, Dmac & Buster in A3000
« on: March 20, 2005, 04:13:42 PM »
In the process of upgrading my custom chips in my A3000 to latest revs.
Have Buster 11 and Dmac (latest rev) here, waiting for Dmac to arrive from amiga centre.
Now for the part of removing the chips, I thought it was as easy as when removing and upgrading the chips on the mediator boards but how wrong I was.
I used the same technique but the chips are quite stuck (lol?)
Anyone with a great tip on removing these little &%#x@!!!?
Or do I need a special tool?

Too use to using brute force since I'm an outboard engine mechanic, hehe
Any idea where I can buy a chipextractor suitable for this task?

Do you mean a lockringplier? (låsringstång)

checking Rusta's site now but can only find this plier which I don't think is thin enough at it's points to be able to grab the chip

Thanks again!

looks like I have to pay Elfa a visit, maybe I should buy a 66mhz crystal too for some serious 68060 overclocking ;)
Looks like I won't be able to upgrade one of the chips yet because the lame ass at Vesalia sent me a Dmac 02 instead of the super buster 11 I ordered!
Had a topic recently here about them and their crap service

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14104

This time I photographed both chips and sent the picture in an email, wonder how long I'm going to be ignored this time.

Will definitely buy the extractor.
Still waiting for the Buster 11 chip Vesalia didn't send me when I ordered it (grrr)
My A3000 has been blown wide open for too long here now thx to them.

You mean to recieve the right things you order you have to call them?
I emailed them telling that I had recieved Super Dmac 02 instead of Super Buster 11, they replied with this:

We will include the DMAC 07 to your new order. Sorry for all the inconvenience.

Well, Super Dmac 7 doesn't exist at all!

Have ordered CybergraphX V4 from them and they told me that they would send the right chip this time in the same shipment (fingers crossed)
