A1200 Mainboard with HOT kickstart roms
« on: February 09, 2004, 10:40:02 PM »
Hi,
I have recently bought an Amiga 1200 mainboard on ebay.
The seller was not sure it was ok, but said "it worked four years ago..."
When i plug it in for testing (just the mainboard) i get no picture and the kickstart roms get HOT!
I am thinking maybe the rom fitted ( version 3.0) are 5V and the mainboard delivers 12V?
Does different voltage roms exist in the amiga 1200?
It seems like the roms have been changed (scratch marks on the sockets)
If my theory is wrong, has anyone had this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks Sam and blobrana,
that was the case.
(why didnt i think of that...:-)
I opened up one of my other amigas and saw that the "hot" roms were placed to much to the left.
(I also now see the arrows on the mainboard)
The roms dont get hot anymore, but i still get no picture.
Maybe i now should try to find a new set of roms...
