Rys Mk II USB adapter problem
« on: July 16, 2017, 07:37:40 PM »
I bought a brand new RYS Mk II USB adapter.  It works fine for USB wired mice, and does not require the PS/2 standard to work, reportedly.  I bought a wireless mouse that is listed as compatible on retro.7bit's (manufacturer) website, the Logitech M185.

The mouse will not work.  The green light on the Rys illuminates, indicating it knows a mouse is plugged in.  The mouse works fine on my PC and my Mac, so, I know it is fine.

The documents really aren't clear, other than stating that it will autodetect what is plugged in.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Kirk

Humm interesting.  I was just looking at the Rys this weekend.  It looks like something that would be useful for me.  I especially want to use it with an Xbox or Playstation controller.  I also see an similar adapter called the "TOM"  Do you recommend the Rys over the TOM (maybe not since you are having an issue with it).  Thank you.

I've never tried the TOM.  I am awaiting a response from the manufacturer, as the reseller is useless here.  I have written them before to get information about another product in the past, but never got a response, so my hopes are not high.

I have the same mouse with Rys and it works fine. It will autodetect so no config needed. Maybe you should check that latest firmware is installed.

I'll be doing that once I get a USB A to USB A male-to-male cable.  For the price of this adapter ($40), I feel it should have been included (I have one on order from Amazon for $3, so just have to wait for it to arrive).

OK thanks for the response.  Good luck.  Hope you get it working properly.

Got a response from the manufacturer asking what transmitter the mouse is using.  Sent him photos of the nano receiver and will update as I know more.

Manufacturer asked for pics of the nano receiver my mouse came with.  Evidently, Logitech has since changed their nano receiver to something that doesn't work, because it doesn't have the same part number or appearance as the picture the manufacturer sent me of his receiver that he tested the M185 with, two years ago.
