So the ground will be like the 3D scroller in the Sanity Arte demo?

Anyway, it's always good to see someone pushing the old hardware, as with the 8-bits. I think sometimes because the platform improved somewhat, the original chipset is often forgotten about.

However you might want to make a version that runs well on the forthcoming FPGAArcade and Natami platforms as well as the OCS/ECS version.

I would imagine that a fast integer scale routine (in asm) a la Afterburner would be quicker than implementing something like Mode 7.

Anyway, Sanity Arte had some pretty smooth scaling (both Afterburner style and scroll-tunnel style) for textures. That was an OCS demo, so check it out on YouTube (one of the videos is rather jerky though, so don't watch that one!).

I can see how pre-calculated would work for a simple game like Buck Rogers. I guess if you wanted more complex trenches and flight paths then you would need something like the '3d' engine from Powerdrift, but that would involve even more overdraw.
