I think that this is a bad mistake by Intel - sure, 32-bits will be okay for 2003, and 2004 - but if AMD and Apple make the consumer want 64-bits (remember, it is about marketing, not about real performance!) then Intel will be stuck with a processor that is not desirable to the consumer.
