A1200 audio decoupling capacitor
« on: April 18, 2016, 08:00:27 AM »
I'm trying to socketize Paula chip and in the process I've found that C305 cap need to be relocated; given that, I'm thinking on replacing it but I haven't been able to find its specs 100% right.

I've found either:

- 0,22uF
- 10uF

Anyone knows which one is the correct one (I've a rev 1D1 board)?

Which is oddly missing C305.

Edit: But the schematics list this as 0.22uF, audio power (not decoupling).

Indeed, it's audio power, not decoupling. Also appears as 0.22uF in all the schematics I've found; but strangely a lot of anonymous sources cited the cap as a 10uF; a bit misleading...

Given that 0.22uF is the only value I don't have as spare right now, it must be the right one :p

Let's see what Acill finds...

Yep, probably it's fine; but as I need to move it, I'll replace it by another with a better looking, right now it has a nasty dull color due C306 corrosion :P

0.22uF then. I suppose that any voltage will do. Thanks!

About socketizing Paula, I'm used to always mount a socket when I replace a chip, specially when dealing with PLCC ICs. My PLCC solder skills are far from good.
