Auto Mouse/Joystick Switcher problems.
« on: July 29, 2007, 04:03:45 AM »
Hey guys,

I just recently bought an Automatic Mouse/Joystick Switcher from Amigakit, but it doesn't seem to want to work very well with the Cocolino mouse adapter that I bought at the same time. When I cold boot my system, I have to unplug and re-plug the cocolino into the switcher for it to recognize any pressed mouse buttons.  After that it works fine with resets.  It also doesn't like the mouse wheel either, because that never works.

Anyone familiar with the Auto mouse/stick switcher have any ideas for hardware hacks or otherwise for either of my problems?

Thanks,
Steve

@Amigakit:  Do you know who manufactures the Autoswitcher, and if they can be contacted?

Thanks,
Steve

No, it's not a driver problem.  It's the circuitry in-between.  The Cocolino works fine with the wheel and all if it's plugged directly into the Amiga.  But when it's passing through the Autoswitcher, it has a problem recognising the Cocolino at first unless it's unplugged and re-plugged, and the wheel never works.

Oh, and the disk with drivers came with the Cocolino, and they are already installed.  :-)

Thanks,
Steve

Also, yes, the switcher works fine with a regular Amiga mouse.

Thanks,
Steve

If thats the case, I kind of suspect that you can use the Cocolino or the switcher, but if you use both you'll have to just accept the problems you're having. The switcher probably is designed to only pass on signals that it thinks a mouse (or joystick) should be sending. Some of the other signals, like the wheel, are probably just being dropped. Probably you need to ask the switcher manufacturer if that's the case and encourage them to fix it in the next design revision.

Yep, I figured that already.  That's why I was asking Amigakit if he knew who manufactured them, that way, maybe they could help me with a hack if possible. :-)

Thanks,
Steve
