Hey, all day doing this stuff,
Q1 - What does Miami Dx offer that's not in Miami?
Short answer: A firewall.

Q2 - I have an X-surf card that is connected to my router (via Miami) but can not seem to resolve domain names. I can ping the Amiga fine. All settings are static. What am I missing?
Right, when you say, you can ping the amiga, do you mean you can ping it from another machine?
Can you ping that machine from the Amiga?

I tried Miami Init - but it could not find anything with the router (D-Link DIR 655). It has DHCP running with PCs...
Ok

Another test : I connect the Amiga direct to the cable modem. Ran Miami Init and things went good until it tried to find DNS servers. No go. So I punched some in I know for my ISP. Still, Amiga could not find crap.
Right, so it's having issues picking up the dhcp server and the DNS servers you've put in don't work.
Can you connect to the following IP address:
64.233.167.104 (Google)
If so we can rule out some conflict with the router blocking connections and get to work on MiamiDX.
Right, assuming the above test was positive, from one of your PC's, go to this
website and copy the dns entries that it supplies into MiamiDX.
Question: what is your ISP? I remember from years ago Amigas having serious problems with BTInternet.

Or is this some browser issue? I was using IBrowse.
That remains to be seen.
