Wilse yeah that would work, had to do that a few times when a PFS partition crapped itself. Ended up switching to FFS because the repair tools were just that much better.

Erm, over here if it is a case of the HD is dead, then I'll warn you now, if its more then needing the circuit board replaced, then you will likely end up paying in the region of about £1000 per GB recovered.

Of course you could always let me have a crack at recovering the drive...

My rates are measured in beers per hour, payable on meeting up in person :-D

I can't garuntee anything but from what I can see you'll not be loosing anything by trying.

What I would suggest is that you get a new hard disk, copy those files over to that, and then dump the current drive, it sounds like its all but dead anyways...
