Myself I can say lobbing one out of a three story window and watching it shatter, then get run over by a delivery van.
However, it is not the most extreme way of killing a hard disk that I have seen...
A friend of mine over here once showed me a video tape of an old 5and a quarter ins drive being strapped to a wooden post, then some explosives (home made) being strapped to the drive. Off it went, folding the metal casing of the drive, and penetrating it in places. Not content with this, it was again strapped with explosives, and detonated - throwing it several feet into the air, destroying the wooden post and leaving it with a gaping hole where once the spindle was.
YT2095 must have the crown for most extreme destruction of a drive. He lives on arcnet in #PBA (Powered by amiga).
