CF and adapter or ? for Vampire V2+ 500 advice needed
« on: August 25, 2017, 01:51:47 AM »
Hello,

I have received my Vampire 500 edition and I need to order a disk drive solution. The videos on Youtube show something attached right on the Vampire without any ribbon cables. This is what I would like to order. Does someone have a link to the proper CF card and adapter on Amazon or Ebay so I can order it? I an excited to test it out. It looks like I need a short HDMI adapter of some kind too.

Thank you,
Jeff

I was going to ask about that route too. Is a DOM a better way to go than CF and is there a specific one that has been tested with the Vampire? I have a 44 to 40 pin adapter with ribbon cables and some old hard drives but I was hoping not to have to go that way. It would allow for the connection of a CD-Rom drive, but does the Vampire IDE even support optical drives? Thank you for the reply :D

I think I'll try the adapter with ribbon cable to a 3.5" IDE drive first since I already have the stuff. I am curious if I can run an IDE drive as Master and a CD-R drive as Slave both from the Vampire. The vampire will probably end up in my A2000.

I finally bought one of these as recommended by Acill for my Vampire 500 V2+ with a Sandisk 32GB CF card.

CF Adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CF-to-44-Pin...EAAOSw6BdXMKVA

I installed the Vampire in my A2000 with a X-Surf 100 and a Rapid Road USB card. I also have an Indivision ECS in there too. The quality of the screen in high res laced is perfect without the Vampire installed but not so good once I installed the Vampire. I guess it will have to do until Gold Core V3 comes out. Does anyone know why the ECS screenmode quality is worse with the Vampire installed? Is there a fix? I also tried a Flicker Free Video but Workbench won't even load with the Vampire-FFV combo. The Buddha 20 year edition also seems to work. I wanted it installed for to use with a CD-Rom drive but I don't have it hooked up yet.

Many Thanks to every one that helped me. This old 2000 ROCKS now :D

Thank you for the ideas! I tried booting the system from a 3.1 install floppy and the ECS screenmodes look perfect through the Indivision even with the Vampire still installed. I think that proves it is a software problem. Perhaps I can build my own Vampire system based on 3.1 instead of using the Coffin OS 51 and see if that helps.
