The A590 has a SCSI HDD, you should be able to boot with a Workbench disk and use hd tool to see and partition it.
There is also utility disks that came with the A590 to guide you through it.

I upgraded mine with a mechware SCSI card reader so I can use a PC to partition and setup a CF-Card and makes it easier to swap information between the A500 and PC.

You can also get SCSI to IDE converters to allow you to use an IDE HDD which is another option.

As for wearing out floppy drive heads purchase yourself a Gotek drive ;-)

So it's a SCSI to CF-Card, looks like it should work. The connector appears to be the right SCSI standard :-)

Can't get over the price of these things now :-/
