Just need to look at picture 4 and 5 and feel the pain the A500 is going through. :-/

Instead of making a nice clean cut with a Dremel it appears ripping the side open and then replacing it with some random plastic/tape/glue etc is the way to go :-/

Then to say condition is refurbished is a bit of a stretch.

I was thinking it was Bondo - fiberglass body filler.  Maybe too many years of working on cars made me guess that.  

Could be right too, couldn't really make out what it was. Hmm make an Amiga case out of bondo? ;-)

Its just a piece of plastic, anybody can replace the top cover....

By hacking another case to get the Amiga logo back? Blasphemy! ;-)
