in 1994/1995 I was cruzing the internet with my 56K modem, Windows 3.11 and trumpet winsock... and flat rate, one payment/download what you wanted.
My BBS closed down around then, but it's been online again since 2000 :-) Not that anyone uses it, I don't anymore. It's there for nostalgia.
