Just as bad as all the auctions I see with hardware sitting on carpet :-) The thing about static electricity is the damage doesn't always show up straight away.
Attitudes have changed a lot, gone are the days people use anti static mats/bands. Or even put components in anti static bags.
I still stick to some old fashioned habits that I learnt many moons ago building computers from scratch.
