This guy has created his own images.

This is what got me asking -- I wanted to modify the proportions of the image so that even though the image is apparently of a 4:3 (or so) aspect ratio, the depicted scene would be appropriate for a 16:9 display.
Hopefully the author will share his techniques at some point.
