I have an A1000 w/ Starboard II w/ 2MB FAST and its SCSI module and a HD tied on. Works great.

I just got a second Starboard II, with just 2MB FAST. I cleaned the edge connectors of all parts involved w/ alcohol, snapped the two Starboards together, attached to A1000 and powered on. System came up, asked for KickStart floppy, read it, asked for Workbench and I gave it my standard 1.3 boot disk that brings the system up, transferring control to the HD in the s-s.

After a few seconds loading, I saw the screen totally blue with only the mouse pointer shown, then a reboot back to asking me for KickStart...!

Is there a special ritual to getting two StarBoard 2 boards working together? I know it can be done. Thanks.

Ok,

Both of the Starboard II units let the Amiga boot up fine, when attached individually. When paired, in either sequence as far as which is closer to the Amiga, the same basic problem results.

There are dip switches inside these things. The PDF manual is at Amiga Resource and is not avail, down.

Is it a dip setting thing? Does anyone have the Starboard 2 manual?

Thanks.

Ok,

I did a RAM test on the "new" Starboard II. It checked out.

But...look what the util reports seeing in that board (attached)...

There is no StarDrive or MultiFunctionModule in that Starboard 2 unit.

oops sorry missed the fact that you have dual scsi controllers.  Pretty sure this is a dip switch issue as they both work fine individually.  If you can't hunt down a manual then open up the cover & sometimes there are settings stamped on the board itself.

I would also ask on www.a1k.org as there seems to be alot of Amiga 1000 owners there that might have the manual or same scsi controllers you have.

good luck

btw, checked out the pics of your 'computer museum' & wow what an awesome man cave!

I meant "boot up fine" from floppy. Only one Starboard has the Stardrive SCSI module. The other has mo module.

Thanks for rec on a1k.org, and for the man cave shout out. :-)

Did you perform the grounding mod to your A1000?  You must do this.

The symptoms of needing to do this mod are when attaching more than one device to the Zorro slot, things are not working right!

I have not... Is this the problem? Can you point me to a solid guide on the process? Thanks...
