A2000 IDE storage help
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:17:53 PM »
I've got an Amiga 2000 '020 with ethernet via X-Surf and 6MB FAST. It's also got a GVP Impact Series II HC+8 SCSI card with a mounted 700MB drive.

The drive is pretty near full.

I want to add a huge number of WHDLoad titles to the system and need 1) storage to do it and 2) a faster way to do it than unzipping these files on an '020 Amiga.

The X-Surf has two on-board IDE connectors (which cannot be booted from). It seems I could get a CF or SD card onto the IDE connector and use it as a data drive to store the WHDLoad folders.

Is the X-Surf's IDE interface up to this?

How can I more rapidly get data onto such a card? Mount it in a PC under UAE and do all the work there and then transfer it over to the A2000? What are some flash card - to - IDE adapter options? Also, what size volume can I use under 3.1?

Once I have an adapter and a flash card, is it just a mountlist I need to get it working on the A2000?

Thanks.
