DPaint III on A1000 KS 1.3?

I am running an Amiga 1000 w/ KS 1.3 and DPaint III seems to guru on my pretty shortly after I load, just messing around with it.  Should it run stably?

I've got 512K CHIP RAM and 2MB FAST RAM on a Microbotics StarBoard II.

I'm running KS / WB 1.3.  Odd, just pretty soon after it loads, I'll be doing this or that and I get a Guru.

I'd rather use DP3 than DP4, just as I prefer the interface and can't really take advantage of some of the features of DP4 on this A1000.
