I have a 32x12x24 burner and I can't burn faster than 8x on my 4000T with 060/PPC accel card and native IDE bus. 12x made my system crawl so bad that the buffer underrun before the CD was finished. Try using a faster IDE card. I haven't tested any myself yet.
