strange, I have never seen a TV that can't manually switch to RGB/composite/svideo.. are you sure it can do RGB?
I would check if Amiga outputs 12Volts on the relevant pin.
(There should be a fuse for Amiga video connector and it might be blown, that's what I had in two A2000 and A520 RF modulator wouldn't work)
