It works great  :-D . I have successfully used 4,3GB HDD with it. No need for octapusy. You need EPROM programator like WILLEM, and empty 27c256 eproms + UV lamp to erase them. You might already have erasable eproms on your Oktagon, look for a 'window' on chip, it might have label over it

er.. just plug in the damn thing. then use hdinsttools, but DO NOT FORGET to add something like device=oktagon.device in tooltypes or commandline of hdinsttools.

Do you have some HDD and hdinsttools on it? If not, make a bootable diskette with it and with PFS-060 in l:
(if you have pfs and 060)

but I'd check oktagon specs on internet first. When I used it with A4000 (060) it was so slooooow. It doesnt have DMA. Builtin IDE might even be faster!!?? On the other hand if you must connect scsi devices(?), and dont have fastlane..

PS, I could burn CDR-s on oktagon but only x1 IIRC or maybe x2.
Better sorry than worry.

sorry, but I don't really know about CDROM drivers. I bought A4000 with everything already installed. And I'm not sure about speed, too. but I do remember being dissapointed with it
(after hearing so many stories about SCSI being better, less CPU time consumer, bla bla) but maybe something wasn't configured right.

you can find some docs and software here:
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search.pl?amiga=4000&cat=scsi#oktagon2000

If you want to connect SCSI HDD larger than 4Gb, I can give you detailed instruction, send me email at: orangekds@mail.ru

Better sorry than worry.
