Just an afterthought. The legs of the rom chips are always too wide to fit in the sockets. Here's the trick: lign up one row of legs with the sockets nearest to you and just rest them in them. Second, apply pressure with your fingers so that the row of legs that are just resting in the sockets will flex a little. This gives you room to insert the second row of legs. Tilt the second row of legs in their sockets. Apply downward pressure to secure the rom firmly in the socket. Done.
