Welcome to amiga.org Glockspeel!

To start with, have a pint on me! :pint: I'm sure you'll be a huge asset to amiga.org and it's fantastic to see another groningen man on this site. You, Odin and Speel should all meet up for drinks!

Happy posting!

Yipe a Glockenspiel is 2 1/2 to 3 octaves of piercing metal (mostly ferrous), like steel.  I think name means to play the bells or something

Xylophone is all hardwood, consisting of about 3 octaves or more (depends on the kind of xylophone), with the name in greek meaning xylo- wood , phone- sound, voice, whatever

I see. That definately explains the xylophone sound on my synth. At first I was gonna say "all wood" then I thought, "hang on, that's a marimba, isn't it?"

Tune in next week folks, for more mallet percussion action when we uncover "just what is a celesta?"
