QuikPak A4060T in A4000D ?
« on: November 24, 2004, 11:59:59 PM »
Hello,

Look like it's my first post so... Me voila!

I moded my A4000 DESKTOP to fit that superb 060 board on the CPU slot... Tried to boot it up (NO HD,ZoRRO EXp. only 4meg on MB 2x4mb on the 4060 and floppy)... nothing... well got black video from LISA.. sit there no grey HW test pass screen. I checked the schematics of both MB all pins on the "Fast SLoT" have the same function. Then I recalled that on the A4000T the SCSI controller reside on the LOCAL ('030) bus not on the Z-III and that the kickstart are different. So I took the "boot rom" (firmware) eprom out from the A4060T and loaded it into my eprom reader... well that why I need your help.
I know very little about M68K ASM could someone here could take a look at the code to see if it wait for a reply from the SCSI chip or JMP to the wrong address into the kickstart chip ??

Also I know that that board was designed by Jeff Boyer who worked for C= and GVP... is it possible to reach him?

Thanks

CU

Thanks guys for the replys,

But I already checked those sites/jumpers...

The T-REX2 seems to be the "younger brother" of the A4060T because they both use the same logic chips and have similar jumper configuration... but the A4060T support the faster data output of EDO RAM whitch the T-REX can't.

I would be interested in seeing the "boot rom" code from a T-REX2 to compare with my rom... but I might be difficult to get a .bin cause the eprom are PLCC one on the T-rex. It would require an adapter to convert it back into DIP to plug it into a eprom reader.

Anybody could help?

Thanks
