Cybervision 3d problems
« on: January 29, 2003, 02:02:34 AM »
Hi! im needing help again from you guys. I have just installed a Cybervision 3d on my amiga 4000 running os 3.9. Everything during installation was perfect, no errors, just all cool. I was using my 1942 monitor. Then i reboot and connected the pc monitor (Goldstar Studioworks 44m SVGA), i saw the logo, and...beatiful 16 bit workbench screen. The problems appear just after this. Every single time i try to open a anything, my machine hangs up. I mean, the screen freezes, the mouse pointer doesnt respond, and then the screen goes black and i have to reset. I have a warp engine 040 accelerator and 96 megas ram on this machine. Nothing else. I have no ideas about graphics cards on Amiga, its the first time ever i have a graphics card on any Amiga, so please anyone who could enlighten me on this issue?? Thanks!!!

Hey Jule, it seems that we have pretty much the same equipment!! I have no programs on the wb startup, i hade a clean installed version of 3.9, i also have cgrx version 3. I also tried Picasso96 and the SAME happened. I seriously doubt that the problem is some software, since when the machine hangs up it hangs up just AFTER i try to open any window. I have tried a lot of things with no luck, you think my monitor (that could not be in synchro, BUT i CAN actually SEE the pic for about 5 seconds before the hang up) could be the faulty thing here? I have no seen any weird on my startup sequence or user startup...maybe if you give me some more advice we can sort this thing out? Could it be a faulty Cybervision?? Kind Regards!

Hi Kevin! thanks a lot for all tips...i let you know that my cd rom is working perfect...i have no programs in my wb startup...i did a clean install of the 3.9, have tried picasso96 and cvrx 3 and happens the same..i have no clue what could it be...Could it be a faulty Cybervision? Early Startup says its a Working board...and i can see it working for about 5 seconds before the machine completely hangs up...

Anyway...thanks a lot!
Regards!

Hi! Well i already have 2 monitors attached to the Amiga, the 1942 for the native Amiga screens and the Goldstar for the pc ones. The issue is that every single time i try to open a window in the pc monitor, the machine hangs up, the screen freezes, and sometimes it reboots. I have tried at least 3 different versions of P96 & CGX and same result every single time. I have no clue of what could i do to solve this but it seems i wont be able to use my graphics card...

I have Buster 11 on this machine, but i couldnt find that jumper on the card to force it to run on ZII mode. The installer tough, cames with an option that asks you which zorro you have. Have tried both with no luck at all...

Mmm...im not sure the problem could be faulty ram...if i take out the card...the machine works perfect...so i dont thing i have power supply issues, since the machine is fully working when i dont use the graphics card.
Somebody told me that CERTAIN DCE Cybervision 3d had problems with some Amiga 4000. I have no other Amiga user here to test this, but...could anybody confirm this? My Amiga besides the warp engine , has nothing else, no hacks on wb startup, i installed on a clean 3.9 partition. Also tried on 3.1 workbench and the same happens over and over again... :-?

Well..the card is second hand...the previous owner had it working on his 4000 ate least he tells me that. I tried first the drivers that come on the packaging, later i donwloaded from VGR site all picasso & cgx versions..with no luck. I also tried 8 and 24 bits and always the same...so..its the card bad..or my machine is in some way incompatible with the card?
