I've always wondered about doing this..  

I'm interested to see how you go with the battery requirement.  There are some pretty good battery capacities out there now..

Does anybody know how much power an A600 motherboard consumes?

I hadn't noticed that.  I'll have to have a look at my A600's + A1200's again and compare!

I suppose you could sink the heat to the portable's chassis somehow.  I can see it's already got some metal in there.  It would be nice to keep the whole thing passive.

Then weight starts to come into it.  It does say "Portable", not ultra-light! :)
