1. Tools; format, delete, copy.. The commands in sys:c
2. Utilities; Clock, calculator stuff like that
3 Applications; your wordprocesor, paint program, webbrowser..
As for a definition, can't give it.. For me, they are pretty much alike, they are all programs you use..
