I assume that most of that memory is being used as memory buffers.  You need the memory buffers.

Please goto shell and type:

addbuffers dh0:
and tell us what it says.

How many partitions is your hard drive divided up into?

A drive with a lot of partitions eats more ram than a drive with just 1 big partition.
