What kind of socket does my Apollo 1260 need for 64MB ram?
« on: March 01, 2005, 08:11:40 PM »
I have an A1200T with an Apollo 1260 accellerator
68060 @50Mhz.

As u know the Apollo 1260 comes with 1 72 pin SIMM
socket which can hold a 72 pin 60 ns 32 MB SIMM.

And it also has 72 holes for soldering in another
72 pin SIMM socket.  Thus it can hold 64MB.

But it seems that this socket would have to be a
strange "sideways" socket like the first one, in
order for it to fit into the case.

What is this type of socket called and where do I get one?

I went to Fry's and they had NO 72 pin sockets, only ones in the 30-something range.

I called EPO and they claim to have NO 72 pin sockets,
which is very strange, since EPO has everything.

I could walk some miles to EPO and look for myself
if I knew what the exact name of this socket is called.

I know that u know what I need, so please tell me.  :-)
