I need your help.
« on: April 30, 2004, 03:16:57 PM »
I'm setting up a small web site.  The basis of which is this....

I have never programmed in C on the Amiga.  In fact, most of my experience of computer programming has been based on assembler in one form or the other.

I am seriously struggling to find good solid information to develop software for the Amiga, especially the likes of P96 info or AROS sample code.

So I am toying with the idea of putting as much source code on the site as I can, besides links to other sites that new developers will find useful.

If you have any source code or files for DE, AROS, 680x0 assembler, C. In fact anything programming related, I would like to know.

I do intend being selective and putting the latest chunky to planer routines in here is a no go.  I need useful routines that others can refer to i.e. Opening Windows & Screens - simple vector routines, small 3d routines.  OpenGL examples - animating sprites - 16 & 32bit Screens  Stuff that will save people time and educate aswell.

If you have any other suggestions then please.....feel free.

I am looking for links and example code for whatever you have to offer.

It's the lack of resourses that I am going to aim for so if you have something that does something interesting, then let me know.

For example.  Speaking personally.  If you have a small 3d vector routine in Amos or Blitz then I will put it on the site.  Quite fankly, I could understand and discect the basic code much easier than C/C++.

Do you see where I am coming from?

I do intend running some kind of tutorial aswell.  From "hello world" to basic OS functions.  I don't have too much time on my hands but I am determined to make an impact.

@DRWHO

What can you give?

Downloads, ANSI source code.  ASM.  You name it, if it's constructive and educational then I am interested.

What about actual tutorials.  Does anyone have anything on paper that could bring modern Amiga developers up-to-date with the latest information,  and I don't mean a tutorial about programming the OCS or ECS or even AGA.  Tutorials and examples on programming your P96 or Voodoo.

@PhatBoiCollier

I used to be a seasoned DE developer myself.  I had scroller code and map editors that pushed the software to it's limits.  Send anything you think is appropriate.

I intend including a "This site would not be possible without.....?" section.

I will include the name of every contributor.

For those of you interested.  My first draft of the site is up and running.  Nothing more than the final visual look.

Your opinions are welcome.

If you have any code.  Now is the time to start sending it.

Have tried it in AWeb and it looks OK.  If anyone has any problems with any other Amiga browser.  Please let me know.

So far I am not promoting the site too much.

I am gathering sources from Aminet and programmers who are keen to show their code.

I am going to take this opportunity to learn to develop for the Amiga myself. I will place simple-sample programmes, hopefully to encourage others developing on from their a very basic tutorial on how to get up and running.

Since my original post I have decided to setup at WinUAE section.  Here I will have links to Hard Files which have all the neccessary software to be able to program from the start.

I am more interested in MOS & AROS code at the mo.  I think if people knew where to go and how to get started, the ball may start to roll, for AROS in particular.

@ drwho

Get working.  I am going to have some code on my site within a week.  If I could put something on the tutorials page also, I would greatly appreciate it.

OS3.1 to 3.9 coding is fine.  There are sections that cover Asm & C so your code will fit fine here.

Your intuition programs, I assume, are system friendly so still apply, in the main, to AOS4.

Why not send some samples.  Please make sure you credit yourself on the source you send to me.
