Seriously, what's in the background should be left for the stylesheet to decide, we're in 2009 now ;-)

I understand you want the text and logo symbol to have a transparent background so this image can be whatever colour the theme dictates.
Entirely possible but I guess cosmetic changes are at the bottom of the list of things to do.
I'm sure Wayne has a few more important issues to sort out first.
