A4000 & A1200 null modem & internet?
« on: September 15, 2005, 10:35:03 PM »
Evening all,

Once again I have to ask a kind of familiar question judging by searches of this site!  I am looking to connect a an A4000 with an A1200 via a null modem cable.  The A4000 has an ASDG dual serial card and the A1200 will be using the standard port.  Ultimately, I would like to allow the A1200 access to the internet via the modem connected to the A4000 but a simple file transfer connection between the two is more important.  Can this be done with, say, Genesis alone; or do I require separate comms software?  If so, what would be recommended?

(I have tried transferring files between the two with Term but with little, or no, success - and, yes I shall RTFM! Is this a step upon the wrong path, though?)

As always, any assistance is greatly appreciated :-)

So, is it possible to link two Amigas via serial ports with Genesis for modem sharing and file transfer?  And, can one make-up IP addresses for the two as long as they are stuck to?  My various attempts have been spectacularly unsuccessful thus far.

Good to know it is possible! Only problem is getting a key for Miami.  Maybe a look at your config files may let me work out something with Genesis, though; if it ain't too much trouble.  Thanks.
