Gfx cards and Boing bags

I have just installed 3.9 on a fresh harddrive and was going to install the two BoingBags but I vaguely remember mention of the rom update being incompatable with gfx card drivers.  Is this true or did I dream it?  Would I just install them but delete the rom update?

I've installed both minus second ROM update and things are fine for now :-)
