I've been using OWB 1.4 or 1.6, can't remember. not gone for 1.7 yet, as its in some sort of wierd archive - is 1.9 in an LhA or had I better get round to downloading the wierd archiver ?

also, the version I use is quite buggy - the display blacks out while I type into the URL field, and takes forever to close.

also, it keeps asking for Cygnix: but doesnt mind too much when I deny.

-edit-
just thought I'd better actually say something nice about it!
I do quite like it, as it renders sites like the BBC one properly, and it'll even render google maps.

I'm gonna d/l this new one tonight, if I get chance !

The current situation is so bad it's almost funny. two small groups of source/api and even binary (to some degree) compatible platforms which will not share code between them and each group making its own software.

Why go for the exclusivity thing, when the userbases are so small ?

Don't expect a 68k version of this btw. That would mean morphos people can run it, and I'm pretty sure the author would consider that terrible (no sfssalv etc for m68k - although I suppose it is at least something that the 68k version of the filesystem is still supported)

Politics aside (and ar5e to it, I say) I doubt it would perform in 68k. even with the vast improvements we're told about, I think (given my experience of its performance of v1.6) and thats on an 800MHz PPC. it may well do ok - even well - on a G2 (BPPC or CSPPC) but they're still streets ahead of even the 68060. Although I'd love to be proved wrong! although I don't expect to ever run it on my 1200 (see spec below!)

Its 7z, yes. There is a 7z xad module on os4depot which means you can extract it with unarc, or there is a port of 7za if you like the CLI.

1.9 removes the Cygnix dependency, and also the URL field is now a proper reaction gadget so no more blanking out. Its also much faster and generally better.

I submitted a grab to the photo database, so hopefully that'll be approved soon.

Cheers - but I likes to use the Archiver on the toolbar that came with OS4 - I don't suppose either of those will work with that ? that would be the ideal solution for me.

I agree a m68k version would be unlikely. But the point I was making was more a general one on attitudes. Like for example morphos has a browser which doesn't run on os4.

That was the impression I got - silly really. that whole period was quite (well, very!) damaging.

I browse on konqueror/firefox on a pc. works really well :)

Your a1200 config is great. perfect for games and many demos ;-)

Aye, not bad - It'll only go to 8 meg, which conflicts with the PCMCIA port. I did get a 68030/40(o/c) but that's never been stable enough to use.
