If you are going to play games, then both the A500 and A600 are a good alternatives. Install a Gotek drive and cram hundreds of games onto a memory card and you are ready to go.
You can buy it pre-flashed on eBay for a bit over £20.

I remember the 600 having troubles with several games back in the days. Although you can use degrader tools and Relokick 1.3 to avoid this, the A500 works right out of the box.
