Amiga 1000
« on: January 27, 2015, 07:00:13 PM »
Hello.
I got an Amiga 1000 from a friend and it is real nasty.
I took it apart and want to check the power supply.
Do I need to put the power supply under load to check it?
Or do I jut plug it in and put a multi-meter on the leads?
Since it has been wet, I hope it does not pop on me.
Thanks.
Amiga 2000 Forever :)

Thanks, I already opened it and it looks good.
I will give it a try now.
edit:
Fan runs no exploding caps, so far so good.

I hooked up the power supply and fdd. I get the 4 led flashes and can hear the fdd look for a disk.

I am glad you asked, I got a Kick Start screen this morning on my Vizio 19" Lcd.
I thought something went bad over night. I reset the cpu and some of the chips around it.
I used the composite input on the tv.
edit:
wishlist:
Amiga 1000 rom adapter; needed
Amiga 1.3 rom from Amiga 500; have
Memory upgrade, I have not checked the memory module that was included.
A way to hook it to a monitor or my Visio.
I need a keyboard and mouse.

I wish I could make a replacement face plate and put in a new FDD.
A FDD emu would be good too, would it pick up the ks first?

How is the adapter by DJ Base?  Are the Roms at max size?

Does anyone know how to clean up a composite signal?
This could create a few chuckles. :D

@Olds_Mike: I thought about buying one. Maybe an external one is better.

@Orange: Thanks, I would like to buy one of those boxes that goes between a NTSC camcorder and a VCR and can correct color, brightness, etc. I will have to wait till I get the A1000 completed.

Has anyone had any success with a fdd emulator and an A1000?
Thanks.

I want to paint the A1000. What brand of paint would you recommend?

I have started my painting. I need to complete the bottom and the front bezel. I wish I cold make a new bezel for standard fdd or for A1200 fdd.
Next is the metal pieces. The power supply and the Motherboard cage or cover.
I hope paint does not flake off the metal and get onto the board.

Does anyone here think it is a good idea for an Amiga 500/600 to boot from a Kick Start disk like an A1000?

Maybe it could be good for developers.
Also, I wonder if it is good for FDD emulators.
Being able to swap out Kick Starts when needed.
Me, I rather have a 3.1 Kick Start and an accelerator.
